Among the many parameters that Renobat ® Technicians Control the maintenanceWe check that the floating voltage may be incorrect or that temperatures outside the normal operating limits can soon have a detrimental effect on the condition of a battery. We can also highlight other common fault modes such as sulfate or drying that can quickly degrade the state of a battery. The Renobat ® Technician’s Ability test will detect batteries in which your state has decreased to the near end of its useful life, but it won’t indicate how much life you have left. What we need is a way of measuring the state with a parameter that changes in a predictable way over the life of a battery.

The ohmic test is a generic term used by Renobat ® for state electrical measurements. It can be broken down into impedance and conductance derived from an AC signal technique, or in internal resistance derived from a DC Technique. A battery, however, has a complex, non-linear electrochemical element and several factors will affect reading, including the frequency, amplitude of the test signal, and resolution of the measuring DEVICE. This means that the readings acquired by a technique may not correlate with the readings acquired by Another. Consistency in both equipment and test procedure is essential throughout the life of a battery.

When the data is acquired in a correct and systematic way, it has been shown that the internal resistance has a strong correlation with capacity and, while not a direct measure of capacity, it can be used as a measure of the state to predict the performance of the battery in a discharge.

A myriad of tests have shown that this correlation between internal resistance and capacity allows the ohmic test to be used as an indicator of the state of a battery. Almost all individual cell anomalies or failures can be identified from internal resistance (RI) Measurements.

Renobat ® determines a reference value for the battery when it is new and then records the trend of RI data over time, so we can evaluate changes in battery Condition.

For all of this, Renobat ® has decided to apply and manage ohmic techniques in its maintenance andto constitute an incalculable value tool in the evaluation of the state of the batteries.
